RE: Triangle RV World in Frederick, MD

I would pass on them. I could not get them to go lower than 20% on a jayco purchase, gave me a hard time about my trade ( Sunline becuase they went out of business). They are related to a Jayco dealer in the Baltimore area, Not sure on the name. My BIL bought a Rockwood there, had problems when picking it up, Trailer not preped , PDI had not been done. They had a week to get it ready.
They told me my Sunline was worthless even know I had the Dealer Black book value for it.

RE: Recommendations for a Used TV less than 10 years old

My TT is in the 11,000 gvwr and have not issues pulling it with my old 454 TBI, Any GM with 454 from 90 (96 and up, have more HP and better FI) and up 3/4 ton would do a fine job. Take you time a good low mileage truck will surface.

RE: Coachmen introduces an oldie but goodie for 2009

It missing the fact that it has no folddown bunks at either end. The old Shasta 18 ft we had could sleep 6 to 8. This one looks nice but not practical like the old Shasta's were made.

RE: torque converter lockup how to

I have directions for 1990 to 93 4l80's to keep it locked but not unlocked. I tired it on my 93 TV and did not work. I would love to get it to work like the one I had for my old TV a 1990 with 700R4. You 98 is ODBII and would need to be programmed. Like most here the TC should stay unlocked when pulling out and giving it the gas. Mine does.

RE: Cougar XLite 29bhs vs. Rockwood Ultra Light Sign 8317ss

I looked at several Cougar Lites while at my local dealer. I looked at the weight sticker most had a GVWR of 10,000lbs. Thats not lite in my book. Id bet the Rockwood is lighter.

RE: sway control

I did one for my father it was easy to do. Directions are good. Not a hard project to do. You may have to moved your propane tanks if the bracket is in the way. But that is also not hard to do. It took me about 2 hours for the conversion but that included time to move the tanks.
To get one you may have to go to a local RV dealer. They will need to know what Hitch head and bars you have so you get the correct kit.

RE: sway control

Get the conversion kit to convert it to a Dual Cam. Will cost about the same as adding another bar and will be better than 2 friction units when done.

My old TV is still towing with 210k on its 350 TBI Chevy motor. Still runs great. My current 93 has not hit the 100k mark yet.

RE: Power Jacks????

Atwoods have a better top cover that keep the electronic connections dry and clean. I have repaired a barker for wet corrosion problems for the connections and had the same one completely jam up and fail, I had to remove it to hitch up. Barker did replace it though. Mt Atwood is now 9 years old and has never failed. If it ever fails another Atwood will replace it.

RE: 1990 GMC Suburban towing capacity and a newer trailer

My 1990 pulled my old 7000lb 30 foot Sunline all up and down the east coast, I81 to Tenn, lots of big pulls. I never had a power pulling issues with it. Tow in 3rd gear the sweet spot for power was in the 2500-3000rpm range. If the cooling system is in good shape heat will not be an issue, Get a good trans cooler and install a lockup switch for the Torque Converter.

RE: For those that have a Focus Or a Fusion

If you don't want a small car choose any GM car with the 3.8 v6. They get great milage, reliable, easy to work on. I have had 2 both averaged 30mpg. One was in the bigest Olds they made and got 30 mpg. You can find it in some mid sived cars also.
Ny Neice has a Focus, She got 30 mpg on a trip to Tenn. all highway with hills 70 mph.
